Linear to Introduce Z-Wave Products

Linear will introduce a new line of Z-Wave-enabled products at ISC West this year as the result of an asset acquisition from Advanced Control Technologies.  Linear helped design and manufacturers the 2GIG security panel.  It's new Z-Wave products will work with 2GIG and other panels, such as Honeywell's LYNX and UTC.

Vivint Sale Finalized

The Blackstone Group officially closed on its purchase of home automation/security giant Vivint for more than $2 billion.

In addition to Vivint (formerly APX Alarm), the other two assets are Vivint Solar, and 2GIG Technologies, a provider of security and automation equipment for residential and small commercial markets.



SDI Adds IP Camera Programming Capability

Tyco Buys Carter Brothers in Atlanta

Tyco Integrated Security, headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, bought the fire and life safety business of Carter Brothers, LLC, based in Atlanta, GA.  The commercial security portion of Carter Brothers will  transfer to an affiliate of Carter Brothers.
 
Founded in 2001, Carter Brothers is owned by Chis Carter, chairman, and John Carter, president.  Supported by 10 branch offices across the country, Carter Brothers' Fire and Life Safety business installs, services and maintains fire alarm systems nationwide, and will be integrated into TycoIS, one of the three separate businesses formed when parent company Tyco International completed its split in September of 2012.

ADS Security Enters Mississippi Market

ADS Security has acquired the assets of Golden Triangle Security Alliance in Columbus, MS.  Adding Mississippi to the expanding ADS territory makes seven states in which ADS Security now has locations and accounts.
 
Headquartered in Nashville, TN, ADS Security was founded in 1990 and currently serves more than 70,000 customers throughout the southeast.

Lorex/Digimerge Acquired by Flir

November 1, 2012

Thermal camera manufacturer FLIR acquired Canadian Lorex, who also markets the Digimerge brand of cameras and DVRs.  FLIR's goal is to bring thermal technology to a broader customer base.  Lorex will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of FLIR.
