The M1XSLZW is a specialized Elk-M1 serial expander for connecting an M1 Control to Z-Wave enabled devices through a Leviton VRC0P+3 Z-Wave Serial Interface. Z-Wave is a wireless, low power, "mesh" network technology widely used for automating devices such as: Lights, Thermostats, Electronic Locks, etc. Z-Wave empowers devices to be remotely controlled from across the room or across the world with benefits such as energy savings, convenience, and comfort.
The VRC0P+3 is known as a Z-Wave Secondary Controller. It must be included as a permanent member of the Z-Wave network as its job is to maintain contact with all Z-Wave devices. It communicates via RS232 to the M1XSLZW which translates the protocol into the M1 control. This allows commands to be sent and received on the Z-Wave network.

The ELK-M1XSP is a "3 in 1" product for additional serial ports and for integration with lighting systems and thermostats. Jumpers on the M1XSP select the appropriate application, connection, and protocol. Best of all, the M1XSP operates from the 4-wire (RS-485) M1 Keypad data bus, allowing RS-232 ports to be located long distances from the control. The M1 Gold and M1EZ8 support up to 7 M1XSPs. The communications baud rate is adjustable from 300 to 38,400 baud. The unit comes complete with cable and a black surface mountable housing.

MAXSYS system keypads provide a plain language interface using a large 32 character LCD display with adjustable brightness and contrast.

All system programming and user operations can be performed using the LCD keypads. Keypads are connected to PC4010/4020 control panels via a 4-wire system communications bus (Combus) which provides power for the keypads and acts as the system communication channel.

Keypads are enrolled onto the system at the time of installation, and are supervised for low voltage and presence by the main panel.

The ELK-M1PCSPIM is a special Powerline Interface Module containing a built-in M1XSP Serial Port chip. This all-in-one device makes it easy to permanently connect the ELK M1 Control to a UPB network. Simply locate a convenient unused AC Power Outlet, connect a cable from the M1 data bus to the four (4) terminals on the ELKM1 PCSPIM, and perform an M1 data bus enrollment. The long distance capability of the M1 data bus makes it possible to locate the ELKM1 PCSPIM virtually anywhere, without a lot of complex or ugly cabling or connections. UPB utilizes the AC wiring circuit for transmission, without new or additional wiring, and without radio frequency signals.
